A Living Legacy: Canada's Pacific North Coast
CLIENT: David Suzuki Foundation
Ear to the Ground produced a short communication video for the David Suzuki Foundation to be used in a web-based communication campaign. Since its release six months ago, the video has obtained the most views of any David Suzuki Foundation online video released in the past 2 years.

Photographing Great Beginnings
CLIENT: City of Vancouver, Central Area Planning
Ear to the Ground was contracted by the City of Vancouver to use photography to document the planning, implementation and completion of a series of revitalization projects in the city core. Ear to the Ground also collected a series of statements from user groups and residents commenting on the impact these projects have had on their community. The photos and quotes have been amalgamated into an album and used to communicate to City Council, staff and the public.

South Peace 2020: The Planning of a Community
CLIENT: Peace River Regional District
Ear to the Ground produced a communication video for the Peace River Regional Districts Official Community Planning (OCP) process. The video communicated what issues the OCP was going to address, the principles the plan will follow, and how the completed OCP will positively impact the region. The video was distributed on the internet, in DVD format, and presented during community events and presentations

Nanoose Bay Neighbourhood Plan
CLIENT: British Columbia Investment Management Corporation
Ear to the Ground is engaged in a collaborative video process with a Community Advisory Group to develop a series of videos related to the neighbourhood planning process for Nanoose Bay. EGP is helping residents and planners communicate the story of the planning process to the public. A total of five videos will be produced that document the plan from concept to completion.

Capilano Lands
CLIENT: Squamish Nation
Ear to the Ground is working for the Squamish Nation to document an ongoing master planning process. Various communication videos will be produced as needed throughout the process.

Climate Action Symposium Summary Video
CLIENT: Sustainability Office, University of British Columbia
Ear to the Ground worked collaboratively with the University of British Columbia’s Sustainability Office in documenting the Inaugural Climate Action Symposium. Ear to the Ground videotaped the event, and produced a series of videos to disseminate the ideas, experiences, and discussions that occurred at the Symposium.

Campus Community Plan Summary Video
CLIENT: Great Northern Way
Ear to the Ground produced a communications video for the Great Northern Way Campus master plan. The video summarized the outcome of numerous visioning and design meetings, and was primarily used as an educational tool to inform the GNW board about the outcome of the design process.

Ear to the Ground produced a 20-minute collaborative video in Northern Cameroon. The purpose of the video was to tell the story of Canadian and Cameroonian volunteers as they work together to reduce poverty and gender inequality through improvements to the education system. The video has been sucesfully used to raise awareness amongst Canadians about the challenges of volunteering overseas, and has also been used in Cameroon to promote the work of Canadian volunteers.

Comebackee Voluntarily

Ear to the Ground traveled to Guyana, South America to produce a documentary style video about a diaspora volunteers. The story showcased how a retired teacher and poet living in Canada, but born in Guyana went back to his homeland to provide teacher education in the hinterlands of Guyana. The video addresses issues of identity, international cooperation, poverty, and compassion.

Heritage Vancouver Walking Tours
CLIENT: Heritage Vancouver
Ear to the Ground documented a series of walking tours and public presentations for Heritage Vancouver. The recorded material will be used in an online education platform.

First Hunt
CLIENT: Tr’ondek Hwech’in Band
Ear to the Ground traveled to the Yukon and documented a ‘First Hunt’ for the Tr’ondek Hewch’in Band. First Hunt is an educational opportunity for elders to transfer traditional knowledge to the youth of the Dawson City community while hunting and camping in the Yukon tundra. The video is being used as an educational tool, and discussions are underway to have the video broadcast in the north.

UBC Farm Vision for the Future
CLIENT: Alma Mater Society of the University of British Columbia
Ear to the Ground attended an intensive one-day visioning charrette for the UBC Farm. Ear to the Ground documented the various activities and conducting on-site interviews and then edited a summary video of the outcomes. The video is being used in an ongoing case to protect and enhance the farm.

Metis Traditional Land Use and Oral History Training Video
CLIENT: Metis Settlement Council
Ear to the Ground worked with the Metis Settlement Council to collaboratively produce a training video. The purpose of the video was to help teach Metis members how to properly document traditional land use and oral history in their own settlement. Ear to the Ground produced the video and delivered a training seminar.

City of Vernon Official Community Plan
CLIENT: City of Vernon
Ear to the Ground joined Smart Growth Advisory Services in a planning process to rewrite the City of Vernon’s Official Community Plan. Ear to the Ground provided public engagement and communications services throughout the project. We organized and delivered several open houses. To maintain a high level of community understanding we also produced two communication videos about the planning process.

Urban Transportation Showcase Program

Ear to the Ground produced four communication videos about sustainable urban transportation for Transport Canada. The purpose of the project was to encourage transportation practitioners and politicians throughout Canada to undertake sustain- able transportation projects. Each video depicted a different showcase (Halifax, Whitehorse, and 2 in Vancouver), and highlighted key points of interest in a light and entertaining style.

A Tour of the Expo Line
CLIENT: Translink
Ear to the Ground worked with Translink staff to create a video that disseminated research outcomes. Translink conducted a multi- year research project that evaluated the Expo Line Skytrain stations and found them to be deficient in a number of ways. The video used visual evidence and time elapsed imagery to showcase the station deficiencies. The video played an important role in Translink’s ability to obtain $150 million dol- lars to update the Expo Line stations.

Should we Plan? Perspectives from the Kootenays
CLIENT: Regional District of the Central Kootenay
Ear to the Ground collaborated with Smart Growth BC to create a video for the Central Kootenay Regional District that highlighted the value of regional planning and Municipal cooperation. The video was used to introduce a number of Official Community Plan review processes, and to encourage partnerships and collaboration between municipalities.

A History of the Cowichan Valley
CLIENT: Cowichan Valley Regional District
Cowichan Valley Official Community Plan Ear to the Ground partnered with Smart Growth Advisory Services and EcoPlan International to produce a 10-minute film that described the Official Community Plan process and timeline. Ear to the Ground conducted interviews with various community members and conducted background historic research of the Cowichan Valley.

Surrey Bicycle Recreation and Facilities Strategy
CLIENT: City of Surrey Parks Department
Ear to the Ground partnered with EcoPlan International to prepare a strategy that included a conceptually design, plan and phasing for the development of 8 bike parks in the City of Surrey. Ear to the Ground provided engagement services for the project by developing surveys, organizing open houses, and producing a communication video. The strategy was adopted and funded and is now being implemented.

British Columbia’s Regional Growth Strategies Process: an Experiment in Collaboration
CLIENT: Ministry of Community Services
Ear to the Ground produced a 15-minute video that explored how Regional Growth Strategies came into being, why they are necessary, and how they bring about more sustainable and resilient regions. The video was screened at the 2006 World Planners Congress, and used by the Ministry and several Regional Districts to support planning processes.
